A layout for my 2011 album

Today I had time and inspiration to create the last layout for my 2011 album. It's about my son at age 16: playing soccer, gaming, having a broken leg and pretty typical: with the remote control in his hands.

I LOVED my scrapping time and the greatest thing is, I can now order my album so it's printed on time for the Event on March 11th!

Yes, I'm still on top of my project 366. I believe the reason is I keep it simple and I enjoy it very much. I use the same solid and patterned paper for a whole month so I can focus on the pictures and journaling. And this works for me! I hope I can keep it this way. Here's week 3:

Hi everyone, I'm doing the Project 366 for the first time and this week I puzzled about the look I wanted to achieve. I changed the papers and fonts several times and ended up with a basis I'd like to keep for the whole project. Of course, I started with one of the templates of my Project 365 bundle. I really like the way it is now: clean and neutral but with a bit of color.

It's a miracle: I scrapped three layouts yesterday!

Hi everyone,Yesterday was a great day. I managed to scrap three layouts and I loved it! I'm gonna do the December Daily project this year so I wanted to prepare myself a bit since I hadn't scrapped a page for ages.The first one is created with one of the new templates by my friends Mo & Mo Studio called December Memories. I wanted to preserve our way of celebrating Sinterklaas. It's the highlight of every year for our family.

I really want to make some more pages for my 2011 album. This layout of the concert by Take That I went to, can't be missed in my album. It was such an amazing night I'll never forget!

The third one is a sad one. My youngest son Jeffrey has a severe knee injury so he can't play soccer anymore. He needs an operation but he can't be operated before he's grown up. And he's just 13 years old!Even though the national soccer bond knew he was injured, he was selected for the team under 14 and got invited for a game. I phoned the coach he can't play anymore and he decided to give him a great farewell. It was a fantastic but emotional good-bye of a great time. He was one of the boys in the dressingroom, I was allowed to take pictures on the field (which is normally NOT DONE), and Jeffrey got a bag full of gifts from the national bond. Anyway, here's a layout of his last game night.

Coloring technique

Hi everyone,I took a break in August for our beach vacation in France which was great. But now I'm back to designing and next Friday my first pack of Torn Edges will be released. Last week I received a copy of the Spring issue of Somerset Digital Studio. I was so proud to see a spotlight article about me on pages 70-72. It's always a thrill to be published but I was over the moon to be in the spotlight of this mag twice this year.

Two of the pages are colored with a technique I'd like to share with you. I learned this during my period of making fanart (wallpapers etc.) but I believe it's not very common in the world of digiscapping. It's quite simple but it gives a spectacular result when you make the right choices.I often have a page which misses something, mostly cohesion. This coloring technique can give more blending, more contrast and a beautiful (unnatural but artistic) coloring. Here are a few examples of pages on which I used the coloring (before > after):

I will show you how this technique works on the last image (You gotta go).Go to the top of all layers and add an adjustment layer (underneath the Layers Palette, in the red square):

You'll get a drop down menu, choose Gradient Map. Immediately your image changes by a random gradient. The first thing you have to do now, is change the blend mode of this layer (called Gradient Map 1) to soft light. Now go back to the gradient and click on it. A pop-up menu with all your loaded gradients appears. If you haven't loaded gradients yet, you can do that first. Complicated, awful and silly gradients give the best result!My pop-up menu looks like this:

Now choose a gradient of your liking (or disliking....afterwords it can also turn out well) and add another three, four or more adjustment layers (Gradient Map). Choose a totally different gradient every time. It's time to look at the effects. Change opacities, change blend modes (soft light and color are the best), make the layers unvisible and visible again to see what kind of effect it gives on your layout. When you're not satisfied, exchange the gradient for another one. By simply double clicking on the left thumbnail (of the gradient) in the Layers Palette, you can choose another gradient.For 'You gotta go' I ended up with these settings:
